There's a new audiologist seeing patients at our Phoenix clinic, and her connection to this practice started years before she earned her doctorate. Dr. Jena Wingett first came through our doors as a daughter sitting in on her father's appointments. What she saw during those visits sent her career in a completely different direction.
Back in 2019, Jena started bringing her dad in to see Dr. Cliff Olson. She wasn't studying hearing at the time. She was just there for her father.
Then she watched what actually happens when hearing loss gets treated properly. A full evaluation. Results explained in plain language instead of jargon. Treatment that got fine-tuned over multiple appointments rather than handed over in a single visit and forgotten. She saw her dad start participating in conversations again, and she saw how much of his day-to-day life had quietly been shaped by hearing that wasn't working the way it should.
That stuck with her. By the time those appointments wrapped up, she wasn't just thinking about her father's hearing. She was thinking about a career.
Jena was born and raised in Mesa. She stayed close to home for school, earning her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from Arizona State University along with a Certificate in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Her Doctor of Audiology degree came from A.T. Still University.
Kinesiology might sound like an odd starting point for someone who now spends her days treating hearing loss. It isn't. Understanding how the body works as a system, and how a problem in one area ripples into someone's mobility, energy, and confidence, translates directly to what hearing loss does to a person.
Jena's path to becoming a Doctor of Audiology on our team went through nearly every role we have. She completed a clinical rotation under Dr. Olson. She worked as an Audiology Assistant. She finished her doctoral externship right here with Applied Hearing Solutions.
That's an unusual road, and it's a genuine advantage for her patients.
Comprehensive Best Practice protocols aren't something Jena picked up midway through her career and had to adjust to. They're the only way she has ever practiced. The additional testing, the detailed explanations, the follow-up visits that plenty of clinics skip entirely, all of it registered as the baseline for her from day one. You don't have to teach someone to be thorough when thorough is all they've ever known.
Every audiologist on our team follows the same standard, and Jena is no exception. Your visit starts with a conversation about what brought you in and what you're struggling to hear. From there, a comprehensive hearing evaluation, with every result explained so you actually understand what your audiogram is telling you.
Treatment is a decision the two of you make together. Your hearing loss, your priorities, your budget, your lifestyle. Jena will give you her professional recommendation and the reasoning behind it, then leave the choice where it belongs.
If hearing aids are the right path, your care doesn't stop at the fitting. Our structured follow-up schedule brings you back several times during your first year so your treatment keeps performing the way it should. That's a lot of time spent with one patient. We think it's the reason our patients hear as well as they do.
Jena dances and performs when she isn't in the office. She's also a maker at heart, spending her free time creating costumes and crafts at home with family and friends around.
Ask her about it at your next appointment. She'll tell you more than you expected.
Adding Dr. Wingett to our team was an easy call. She came up through this clinic, she was shaped by watching her own family benefit from Best Practice care, and she brings the kind of patience and compassion that can't really be taught.
We were the first HearingUp providers in Phoenix, and our whole approach comes down to a simple idea: take the time to get your hearing right, then keep it right. New patients are welcome to schedule with Dr. Wingett or with any of our audiologists.
Give us a call at 602-877-0000 to get on the schedule. Our clinic is at 4045 E Union Hills Dr, Suite D128, Phoenix, AZ 85050, open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
We'd love to introduce you.
