ReSound Sensia

ReSound Sensia is a small, rechargeable AI hearing aid that automatically focuses on the person you are facing, so conversations stay clear in noise without reaching for an app.

ReSound Sensia
Specifications

ReSound Sensia is available now at Applied Hearing Solutions in Phoenix and Scottsdale. It is ReSound's new premium hearing aid family, and it tackles a common shortcoming of AI hearing aids: focusing on the loudest voice in the room instead of the one you actually want to hear. Sensia is built around a simple, natural cue. People tend to look at the person they are talking to, so Sensia gives priority to speech coming from the direction you are facing, and it does this automatically.

What Makes ReSound Sensia Different

Sensia's automatic program, called Intelligent All-Around, combines three technologies that work together:

  • AcoustIQ sound sensing: Continuously analyzes your sound environment and switches on the right features at the right time. ReSound reports 91% accuracy in classifying environments and 88% greater accuracy in classification and feature engagement than the closest competitor.
  • 4-microphone beamforming: Microphones on both hearing aids work together to form a forward-facing focus, so you can hear someone simply by looking toward them, while still preserving awareness of sounds around you.
  • Automatic DNN denoising: A Deep Neural Network (a form of AI trained on large amounts of real-world sound) reduces competing voices and distractions around the person you are listening to. On the premium Sensia 9 level, it activates on its own when conversation becomes difficult, with no special program to select.

In ReSound's research, validated by Hörzentrum Oldenburg, Sensia made the talker in front of the wearer the most audible voice for 80% of participants. As manufacturer-reported results, we view these as promising, since real-world performance depends on your own fitting and needs.

Small, Rechargeable, and Fully Connected

Despite its added automatic processing, Sensia keeps the very small size and all-day battery of its predecessor, ReSound Vivia. ReSound rates the rechargeable models for at least 24 hours of use, with up to roughly 30 hours depending on usage, and a smaller updated portable charger is available.

Sensia comes in a full range of styles, including a rechargeable mini receiver-in-ear, standard receiver-in-ear models, and custom in-ear options, and the hearing aids carry an IP68 rating for resistance to dust and water.

Sensia supports Bluetooth Low Energy Audio and Auracast, which is fully working at launch rather than waiting on a future update, so you can stream audio directly from equipped theaters, venues, and public spaces through the ReSound Smart 3D app.

Is ReSound Sensia Right for You?

Sensia fits a wide range of hearing losses and lifestyles, with CROS options for single-sided hearing loss and bimodal models for people who also use a Cochlear Nucleus implant. It is often a strong fit for people who:

  • Have trouble following the person in front of them in restaurants and busy rooms
  • Want their hearing aids to adjust automatically without using an app or buttons
  • Prefer a very small, discreet hearing aid with all-day rechargeable battery
  • Want Auracast streaming that works today
  • Have hearing in only one ear or use a cochlear implant

Still, the most advanced hearing aid is not automatically the best one for you. That is a decision worth making with an audiologist.
