If you have tinnitus, you have probably been told there is nothing to be done about it. Lenire is the first device of its kind approved by the FDA to treat it, and Applied Hearing Solutions is Scottsdale's only Lenire partner clinic.

Lenire is a prescription tinnitus treatment that uses bimodal neuromodulation to help retrain how your brain responds to tinnitus.
Rather than simply covering up your tinnitus with another sound, Lenire simultaneously stimulates two sensory pathways using sound through headphones and gentle electrical stimulation of the tongue.
When these two forms of stimulation are repeatedly paired together, they are designed to promote neuroplastic changes within the brain that can reduce the severity and impact of tinnitus.
In other words, Lenire uses your brain's ability to change to help make tinnitus less bothersome.
Lenire became the first device of its kind to receive FDA De Novo approval for the treatment of tinnitus in adults in March 2023. It is noninvasive, drug free, and designed to be used at home under the care of a trained tinnitus professional.
Tinnitus may seem like a problem with your ears, but the sound you perceive is ultimately generated by activity within your brain.
When the brain is deprived of certain sounds, often because of hearing loss, it can begin to compensate for that missing auditory information. Changes in neural activity can contribute to the perception of a sound that is not actually present, such as ringing, buzzing, or hissing.
Over time, your brain can also learn to give that tinnitus signal more attention and importance, making it increasingly difficult to ignore.
This is where Lenire takes a different approach.
Lenire has three components:
During each treatment session, sound from the headphones is paired with gentle stimulation of the tongue.
This simultaneous stimulation is called bimodal neuromodulation.
With repeated treatment, the goal is to promote changes in the neural networks involved in tinnitus and reduce how strongly your brain reacts to and prioritizes the tinnitus signal.
For many patients, that can mean tinnitus becomes less noticeable, less bothersome, and less disruptive to everyday life.
Lenire is an exciting advancement in tinnitus treatment, but it is not the appropriate treatment for every person with tinnitus.
That is why we do not start with Lenire. We start with a comprehensive hearing and tinnitus evaluation.
The findings from your evaluation help us determine which treatment approach, from a wide range of research proven tinnitus treatments, is most appropriate for you.
If Lenire is appropriate, we program your device, guide you through treatment, and monitor your progress throughout the process.
Applied Hearing Solutions built its reputation on doing hearing care the right way: thorough testing, real verification, and enough time with every patient to get the treatment right. Our Scottsdale location brings that same approach to tinnitus, and we are the only Lenire partner clinic in Scottsdale.
Your care will be handled by a Doctor of Audiology on our team, trained to evaluate whether you are a candidate for Lenire and to program and monitor your treatment from start to finish. Every audiologist here follows the same Best Practice standards our founder, Dr. Cliff Olson, built this practice on, and that includes giving you a straight answer about whether a treatment is likely to help you. In a category as full of empty promises as tinnitus, that matters.
If tinnitus is wearing on you, you do not have to keep living with it unaddressed. Call our Scottsdale office at 480-447-9434 to schedule a tinnitus consultation, or email us at answers@appliedhearingaz.com.
